MEMBERSHIP

MISSION

     As a Coos County Historical Society member you play an important role in our mission to enhance the intellectual, civic, and cultural life of Oregon’s South Coast by facilitating awareness of local history. Our special emphasis is on the important impact which the ocean, bays, rivers, and sloughs have had on the people who have lived on the South Coast.

      We do this by: 

     1) Preserving and facilitating access to artifacts, images, and information that   

         illuminate local history.

     2) Developing school programs that foster appreciation of our heritage.

     3) Providing community programs and activities that encourage widespread

         understanding of our county and region.

                                                                                   BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

     Memberships are considered tax-deductable as gifts to the Coos County Historical Society, a non-profit organization that has no public funding.  Membership cards will be mailed to you upon receipt of payment.  Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.

     Basic annual membership includes the following benefits:

• Unlimited free visits to the Coos Historical and Maritime Museum during the calendar year
• A subscription to our quarterly newsletter Waterways which includes local history

          articles and information about upcoming programs, events, and exhibits

• A 10% discount on items in our museum store
• Invitations to our Annual Meeting and other member events

• 4 free hours of research assistance
• your business name/logo will appear on our website as a major sponsor

Basic benefits above, plus…

• unlimited free visits to the Center for all those in your party
• 5 free hours of research assistance
• your name will appear on our website as a major sponsor

   You can help support us with general operations or specific programs with an easy on-line donations (click here) or with donations of artifacts

VOLUNTEER
      With so many programs, things are always buzzing, and volunteers of all ages provide an astonishing array of skills and talents.  Call if you'd like to try helping with a single event, exhibit or program; or set a regular weekly or monthly schedule.  There's truly something for everyone!

     Currently, volunteers are working in collections management and record verification, image scanning, reception, photography, publicity, minor carpentry and painting.  Learn more by calling our Collections Manager at 541-756-6320.
