Seeing in Black and White: The Beauty of Shadow and Light with Lisa Phillips from Lisa Michele Photography

Lisa Phillips is the owner of Lisa Michele Photography. After a 20 year career in video production as a videographer, producer and editor, Lisa  returned to her first love: still photography and her journey continues to this day.

Are you curious about black and white photography? Would you like to create compelling and thoughtful images? Then this class is for you! In this day and age, making a monochromatic image is a simple press of a button and “poof” the color is gone. However, removing the color doesn’t necessarily make it a good black and white photo. Let’s stop and look at what it takes to make great black and white images. 

In this mini course we will analyze why black and white photography is so powerful. We will study the key elements needed to create compelling black and white photography as well as train your eye to find the best shot amidst the chaos of color. Whether you’re a novice or a pro, this class aims to remind you about shooting with intent before pressing that shutter button.

This class is aimed at beginner to intermediate photographers and you will need to bring a camera, smartphone, or whatever device you use for photography. Also, please note that this class is not covering digital darkroom processing.
