Encore! INEQUITY: Social Injustice in Oregon and the South Coast by Patty Whereat-Phillips, Taylor Stewart, Jon Littlefield, and Steve Greif
In June 2020, in the wake of the death of George Floyd, and the Museum’s work with the Alonzo Tucker Remembrance Project, The Coos History Museum held a series of meetings with concerned community members interested in learning more about Alonzo Tucker and social justice issues in Coos County. As a result, the Coos History Museum produced the “Special Edition” Tuesday Talk: INEQUITY: A Survey of Discrimination in Oregon and the South Coast, a panel discussion about the removal of Indigenous tribes in 1865, the lynching of Alonzo Tucker, the experience of Chinese immigrants and the Ku Klux Klan presence in Coos County. Tune in to view the recording of this presentation from July 14, 2020 and learn of some recent updates concerning the Alonzo Tucker Memorial Project.
