The Coos County Historical Society will conduct its 2018 tour on Saturday, July 14th, with a trip up Coos River. Long-time Coos River resident will join us as out tour guide. We leave the Museum at 9:00am with our first stop at the Leroy and JoAnn Bracelin residence in Eastside, where we will view their extensive collection of classic vehicles and antique farm and construction equipment. We then travel up Landrith Road to visit the last operating dairy on Coos River. We’ll cross Chandler Bridge and stop at Rooke-Higgons Park to view the site of the quarry that provided the rock for the original Coos Bay jetty. After a catered lunch at the Mahaffy Pumpkin Patch, we travel on up to Golden and Silver Falls, where we will hear from Lionel Youst, with stops along the way to view splash damn sites and the home site of the last IWW member in Coos County. We’re scheduled to return to the Museum at 4:00pm.
Lunch and transportation are included in the cost.
