The Coos History Museum will again offer a Local History Class this winter presented by historian and museum volunteer Steven Greif.
This year’s ten-week class will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM starting Wednesday, January 5th through Wednesday, March 9th. This class, as a fundraising effort for the museum, has a $60 class fee for museum members, and $70 fee for non-members. This hybrid program will allow us to host up to 40 participants in-person at the CHM and the remainder will be able to join us online via Zoom.
This year’s class, called “10 Days That Shook the South Coast”, will focus on ten different days on the Southern Oregon Coast that had an extraordinary impact on local history. These historical local events often even made state and national news. Using a narrated slide show that includes many photos from the Coos History Museum’s collection, Greif will illustrate the timeline of each day’s events. This includes background information leading up to each historical day and a discussion of what happened after each momentous event.
Registration: Members will have the first chance to register and should attempt to do so by end of day on December 19th for the reduced price. Non-members will be able to register beginning December 20th for the regular price. To complete registration, please reserve and purchase a ticket to the left. Indicate in the comment section to the left, whether you would like to participate “in-person” or “online”. If no specification is made, you will be added to the “online” category. The first 40 registrants that indicate “in-person” will be able to attend the class at the CHM, and all others will need to attend “online” via Zoom.
After you register for and purchase the class, you will receive a confirmation email. All participants will also receive a follow up email about the in-person or online class details once the registration window has closed. As space in the museum is limited and we want to provide everyone with details about the class as soon as possible, please register at your earliest convenience and keep in mind that the last day for registration is January 3rd at 5:00 PM.
*CHM membership will be verified and must be current at the time of purchase for the discounted class fee. Whether you are a CHM member or non-member, if you miss your registration period or would like to change your class location (CHM or Zoom), please contact the museum as soon as possible.
