Music on the Plaza with Allison Scull and Victor Martin

About Alison and Victor:

Allison Scull and Victor Martin’s unusual collaborative style–singer-songwriter plus saxophone–connects grown-ups and little people alike. Together, they create a fusion of musical forms uniquely their own. They blend roots music — a fusion of jazz, folk, blues, a little funk, originals and some jazz standards laced with some French lyrics. Allison learned French where she grew up in Belgium while Victor was born and raised in Middletown, Delaware.

As a duo, Allison and Victor have shared the stage with The Blind Boys of Alabama, Tuck and Patti, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Craig Chaquico, Shana Morrison, Archie Lee Hooker, Acoustic Alchemy, blues legend John Hammond, Lazy Lester, famed drummer Akira Tana and hall of famer Terry Robb. Their constant performance schedule has contributed to their growing fan base on the West Coast, USA. While their music has struck a chord in the wine country of Northern California and Oregon as well as the festival circuit, Allison and Victor also perform in Arizona and in Mexico.  In 2021, they were honored to be invited to perform for the first Juneteenth Celebration at the Coos History Museum in Coos Bay Oregon. Mostly performing as a duo, they have also developed a show with a stellar array of musicians in their Midnight Band which include Stefan Schittko on keyboard, Bruce Calin as well as percussionist Michael P. Harris and drummer Patrick Wiseman.

Allison and Victor have released several recordings: From the Back Burner, Allison Scull and Victor Martin Live, and Cool Like the Breeze. Currently in the studio, their next recording will feature some new original material and a couple of class jazz songs.

Performance Description: Allison Scull and Victor Martin will perform at the Coos History Museum for the 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration 2022, in Coos Bay, Oregon. Performing on Saturday, June 18th and Sunday, June19th, noon-2pm, this acoustic jazzy and soulful duo have just released a new music. Entitled Nation of Jubilation, their title track is a song about celebrating the things all humans have in common such as our innate goodness and the beauty of nature. According to Jim Dyar of Enjoy Magazine, this duo’s sound “blends elements of folk, jazz, blues, European and Latin music, all of which translates into a laid-back, tranquil vibe that tends to put people at ease.” Allison will perform on guitar and vocals while Victor will play on saxophone and also sing.
