Cant You Hear the Whistle Blowin
A well constructed examination on the history of the railroads in Coos County by local author Bill Lansing, Timber and coal were the biggest industries that contributed to the rapid growth of Coos Bay, from a community of a few homesteads to a bustling ocean-front port. None of which would have been possible without the railroad. With over 220 photographs, Lansing lays out the adventurous history of the few entrepreneur's who were willing to brave the rugged terrain to establish an efficient transportation system.
