Product Details

Dealing With The Dead chronicles the history of the Coos county coroner's office from it's inception in 1854 through December 31st 1962 when the last County coroner finished his term and the position was taken over by county medical examiners supervised by the Oregon state medical examiner.

The primary duty of the coroner was to report to the District Attorney regarding all suspicious deaths, and a little known fact is that the Coroner took on the role of Sheriff if for any reason the position was temporarily empty. The county coroner position was full of interesting and unexpected 'true crime' challenges, all revealed in this book by Coos Bay author Andie Jensen.
