Fourth Grade Field Trip Educational Program - Tribal History/Shared History

Our Fourth Grade program introduces students to the history and contemporary cultures of local Tribes. We developed it in partnership with the Coquille Indian Tribe, the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians, and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians. The program provides classroom resources for instructors to use before their bookings and in-person visits to the Coos History Museum and the Coquille Plankhouse.

The museum coordinates both visits. Fourth-grade museum visits take place in February, followed by Coquille Plankhouse visits during two designated weeks in March. The museum may arrange limited same-day visits to both locations in March for schools traveling longer distances.

Fourth-grade program registration

Registration for 2027 opens in mid-November 2026. We will email registration information directly to fourth-grade teachers and school contacts.

The inquiry form below cannot be used to register for this program as it is offered at no charge exclusively for Oregon 4th grade classes. To receive the registration invitation and form, join our Fourth Grade Teacher Mailing List.

Joining the mailing list does not reserve a space. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and all reservations require confirmation from museum staff.
