Get Involved with the North Bend Digital Newspapers Project

Hey local history fans! Do you want to get involved with preserving North Bend’s historic newspapers? Check out this note from North Bend Digital Newspaper Project chair Dick Wagner, and consider helping out:

A committee has organized to digitize North Bend’s historic newspapers and make them permanently available online through the University of Oregon’s Historic Oregon Newspapers program, a trusted platform that provides free public access with no ongoing maintenance fees. The project will preserve and publish: Coos Bay Harbor (1905–1950) and North Bend News (1951–1986). Our total goal is $32,175; over $15,000 has already been pledged, thanks to early supporters. We have received enthusiastic letters of support for this project from the City of North Bend, the Coos History Museum, the Marshfield Sun Printing Museum, the Oregon Coast Historic Railway, and the Coquille Valley History Museum. This community preservation project is a way to protect the stories, milestones, people, and moments that shaped North Bend.

Whether you give $50, $500, or $5,000, your support directly helps save and share North Bend’s history. Please make checks payable to: North Bend Public Library Foundation (a tax deductible 501(c)(3) nonprofit) Mailing address: 1800 Sherman Avenue, North Bend, OR 97459. Memo line: NB digital newspapers. Or go online and use the PayPal donation link at: https://www.paypal.com/donate/hosted_button_id=MUWQL7DYE7UUY

From all of us at CHM, thank you for supporting local history!
