This year marks a special milestone for the Coos History Museum: we’re celebrating 10 years at our beautiful bayfront location! In 2015, we opened our doors nestled between HWY 101 and Coos Bay, embracing the rich maritime heritage and cultural history that defines our region. Since then, we’ve welcomed thousands of visitors, shared countless stories, and grown in exciting ways.
Over the past decade, our museum has become more than just a building filled with artifacts—it’s become a community hub. We’ve hosted lectures and workshops, hands-on kids’ programs, and community events that celebrate the diversity and resilience of the people of the Oregon Coast. We’ve completed the boardwalk along the museums, opened new exhibits, and created meaningful partnerships with local cultural, heritage, and educational organizations.
Our location at the water’s edge isn’t just scenic—it’s symbolic. For generations, the bay has been a gathering place for people from all walks of life, and our museum carries that spirit forward. As we look back on ten years of growth, we’re also looking ahead to the future—expanding our programs, collaborating with local partners, and continuing to share the rich history of this place we call home. And we need your help to do this.
This year we are looking to raise $150,000 to enhance our exhibits, introduce more programming, hire essential staff members, and more to make the next 10 years at CHM even more impactful.

We invite you to stop by, share your memories, and be part of our celebration. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or a first-time visitor, thank you for making the Coos History Museum a place where the past and present meet. Here’s to another ten years of discovery!
